PCRI is in the panel of approved consultants of various State Pollution Control Boards. PCRI has provided Consultancy services to number of industries to tackle their pollution problems. PCRI is also providing its services related to designing of effluent treatment plants to industries. The institute undertakes designing of ventilation systems; fume extinction system for improvement in work place environment.

M/s PEPA Limited, Nepanagar, BPL-UPTRON CPT, Sahibabad; Highway Cycles Ltd. Ludhiana; Modipon, Modinagar and many other industries and organizations have got benefited from the services of PCRI in the areas of Efficient Treatment Plant (ETP) design and air pollution control. PCRI also conducted feasibility studies for design of dust emission control and recycling of Sinter dust in Lead Smelter for Tundoo plant of M/s Hindustan Zinc Ltd.

The institute has also carried out field studies related to noise pollution for industries, Thermal Power Station and Hydel Power Plants.

The industries dealing with hazardous chemicals are required to prepare Disaster Management plan. PCRI has already/ undertaken work related to risk analysis and preparation of disaster management plan for M/s HCL, Allahabad and number of Thermal Power Stations.

PCRI gives prime importance to Research & development. The institute is recognized as in-house R&D unit of BHEL by Deptt. Of Science & Technology, Govt. Of India. The institute has undertaken a number of R&D projects to develop industrial pollution control technologies, such as:

PCRI is recognized by Central Pollution Control Board, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. Of India as and Environmental Laboratory under Environmental (Protection) Act, 1986. PCRI laboratories are recognized by various State Pollution Control Boards like U.P. , Bihar, M.P., Haryana & Karnataka etc. PCRI is also recognized by Transport department U.P. Govt. of vehicular pollution monitoring.

A large number of industries utilize the facilities of PCRI for monitoring and analysis work related to air, water, noise and solid wasted on regular basis. PCRI has its own Air and Water quality monitoring mobile vans equipped with state of art equipment for the purpose. These monitoring vans are extensively used by PCRI for regular monitoring work required by number or industries.

Regular training programmes are organized by PCRI for specific requirements in the field of Environmental Audit, Water Quality analysis etc. for various organizations. PCRI had organized an International Conference of Environmental Impact Analysis and number of national seminars on current environmental topics beside organizing regular training programmes for the benefit of professionals engaged in pollution abatement and environmental protection. PCRI in association with Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi organized a National Seminar on “Environmental Audition for Industries”. Every year the institute impact training to large number of graduate & postgraduate students from various universities as vocational training. PCRI also organized a training programme on Air Pollution Monitoring & Control for State and Central Pollution Control Board officials. This training programme was sponsored by Ministry of Environment & Forests, New Delhi under World Bank Aid Project. Similar programmes have been organized by PCRI of NTPC, IIFM, BHEL and U.P., Jal Nigam etc.
