The Institute is manned by experts comprising of 10
doctorates and 21 post graduates trained in different countries in the field of welding
and allied areas and is fully equipped with the state of the art facilities. More than 6000
personnel have been trained and 2000 consultancy services have been completed covering 120
organisations. The type of industries
served include Heavy Engineering, Power,
Petro-Chemical, Transport, Metal Processing, Ship Building, Consumable & Welding
equipment, Electronics industries etc.
Till
date, technology transfer has been effected with the know-how for 9 products, around 18
Patents have been sealed, more than 50 Awards have been won and 600 Technical papers have
been published in national and international journals. A reference book on Industrial
Welding Technology authored by WRI has been published by Central Instructional Media
Institute, (CIMI), Chennai for practicing welding personnel. The important research works
carried out in the Institute are published in the Institute journal titled "WRI Journal". |
