BHEL employee conferred ‘National Award for Best Disabled Employee 2005’.
For his overall outstanding performance in the face of all adversities, an employee of BHEL, Mr. R.C. Parakh, has been conferred the ‘National Award for Best Disabled Employee’ for the year 2005, by the President of India.
Carrying a cash award of Rs.25,000/-, a Medal and a Citation, the prestigious award was presented by the Hon’ble President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, at a function held here on the occasion of the International Day of Disabled Persons.
An engineer and an MBA, Mr. Parakh joined BHEL in 1974 and is presently employed as an Additional General Manager in BHEL’s Bhopal plant.
Employees of BHEL have regularly been winning national and international recognition for their achievements. Ingrained in all the employees of the company, the culture of excellence recently culminated in a BHEL employee being conferred one of the country’s highest civilian honour - ‘Padmashri’ for the year 2005, by the President of India, for his valuable contribution in the field of science and engineering.
BHEL employees’ zeal to excel supported by the company’s constant encouragement has also resulted in its employees winning a sizeable number of Prime Minister's Shram Awards. These awards are the country’s highest honour bestowed on individuals for outstanding achievements leading to higher productivity, improved quality, greater safety and foreign exchange savings.

As a step in this direction, aimed at encouraging individuals to take up improvement projects for capability building and for continuous improvement in all spheres, an Improvement Projects Rewards Scheme (IMPRESS), has also been introduced company-wide.
Similarly, conceptualized to further integrate the culture of excellence in the organization, BHEL’s ‘Excel Awards’ were recently presented to 28 employees. With this, a total of 211 employees and two family members of employees have been awarded so far as recognition of their contribution towards the growth/profitability of the company.
