BHEL lends a helping hand to encourage Blood Donation.
As a step towards encouraging blood donation amongst citizens, a Blood Donation Camp is being organized at the Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI) of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
For this, BHEL is extending support to Him Jyoti Foundation, who are organizing the camp with assistance from Rotary Blood Bank at the company’s HRDI, Sector 16-A, Noida from 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM, on 5th August ’05 (Friday). The camp will be inaugurated by the Governor of Uttaranchal, His Excellency, Mr. Sudarshan Agarwal, at 10.30 AM.
A Navratna and India’s premier engineering enterprise, BHEL has always taken a lead and played a proactive role in community development activities. Each time a calamity descends upon the nation or its citizens, the company rises to the occasion and contributes its mite to render relief, be it for the victims of natural disasters, like the Tsunami, the floods in Assam, the earthquake in Gujarat, the super cyclone in Orissa, the drought in Gujarat and Rajasthan or the Kargil war.
BHEL continuously strives to offer a helping hand for the upliftment of the weaker sections of society, not out of emotion, compassion or as an act of charity but because it believes that development of the society at large, is an extension of the role and function of its business. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and as an attempt to give back a part of its success to one of its key stakeholders – society, BHEL has adopted 56 villages around the country for welfare activities. Located across the country, these villages and their 80,000 inhabitants are benefiting from BHEL’s initiative aimed at all-round grass-root rural development.
Him Jyoti Foundation, Dehradun, headed by His Excellency, Mr. Sudarshan Agarwal, Governor, Uttaranchal (Former Member, National Human Rights Commission and Former Secretary General, Rajya Sabha), takes care of education and health needs of weaker sections of society by way of financial assistance.
