BHEL to set up Captive Power Plant for Oil India Limited on turnkey basis
Amidst stiff competition, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has won a turnkey contract for setting up an energy efficient and environment friendly Gas Turbine-based Captive Power Plant in Assam.
Reposing confidence in BHEL's capabilities, Oil India Limited (OIL) has placed an order worth around Rs.1,900 Million, for a 20 MW Gas Turbine-based captive power plant. The project will be set up by the company on Lumpsum Turnkey (LSTK) basis at Duliajan in Assam.
The customer has opted to source the captive power plant from BHEL in view of its techno-economic superiority - a testimony to the customer’s confidence in BHEL’s capability.
BHEL's scope of work in the project envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the complete captive power plant, in addition to civil works.
The equiment for the project will be supplied by BHEL's plants at Hyderabad, Bhopal, Jhansi and Electronics Division, Bangalore. Erection and commissioning of the captive power plant will be carried out by the company's Power Sector – Eastern Region, Kolkata.
For OIL, BHEL has earlier supplied several onshore oilrigs as well as equipment used in oil exploration such as wellheads and Christmas Tree valves.
BHEL has emerged as the market leader in co-generation and captive power plants, offering units from 10 MW onwards for both steam turbine-based and gas turbine-based power projects for power and process steam requirements of various industries. So far, the company has supplied and commissioned more than 700 steam turbine and gas turbine-based plants for a host of industries like metal, paper, sugar, cement and process industries like refineries, petrochemicals, fertiliser etc., in domestic and overseas markets.
