BHEL wins Rs.8,420 Million contracts for two Power Projects in Rajasthan.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured contracts for setting up two thermal power projects in Rajasthan.

Reposing confidence in BHEL’s technological excellence and project execution capabilities, Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Limited (RVUNL) has placed orders, cumulatively valued at Rs.8,420 Million, for setting up a 250 MW unit at Suratgarh Thermal Power Station (TPS) and a 195 MW unit at Kota TPS.

The units are slated for commissioning in fiscal 2008-09, following which power situation in the state will ease considerably.

With these contracts, BHEL has maintained its track record of bagging all the orders placed by RVUNL for power generating equipment in Rajasthan. BHEL has so far commissioned over 2400 MW of power generating sets in Rajasthan. These include thermal and gas based units of various ratings at Suratgarh & Kota TPS and Ramgarh Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP).

For RVUNL, the company is presently executing contracts for setting up two units of 125 MW each at the lignite-based power project at Giral; 330 MW CCPP at Dholpur and 2x250 MW TPS at Chhabra.

BHEL’s scope of work in the present contracts envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of main plant equipment along with associated auxiliaries.

The turbine generators and steam generators will be manufactured at BHEL’s Haridwar and Trichy plants respectively while BHEL’s Electronics Divisions, Bangalore will supply the state-of-the-art Controls & Instrumentation (C&I).

BHEL has fully established state-of-the-art technology for design, manufacture, erection and commissioning of thermal sets up to 500 MW rating and has the capability to manufacture sets up to 1,000 MW rating.
