BHEL achieves breakthrough in the European market for Compressors;

Wins Rs.45 Crore contract for Gas Compressor Package in France

New Delhi, January 29: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has achieved a major breakthrough in the European market for Compressors by securing a prestigious export order worth about Rs.45 Crore, for a Compressor package in France.

Won in the face of intense competition from several internationally renowned Compressor manufacturers, the order for a Compressor Train package has been received from Grande Paroisse, France, a Total Group company – one of the leading global companies in the oil and gas sector.

The order envisages design, manufacture, supply and erection and commissioning supervision of a CO2 Compressor Train package for installation in a urea plant in France.

The delivery has to be completed in a challenging schedule of 15 months. The compressor and auxiliaries for the contract will be manufactured and supplied by BHEL's plant at Hyderabad.

BHEL is also currently executing three contracts, cumulatively valued at Rs.220 Crore, for large size Compressor packages in Oman, received from Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), a joint venture company of the Govt. of Oman, Royal Dutch/ Shell Group of Companies, Total and Partex.

These successes have been achieved as a result of BHEL’s long-term strategy of expanding its basket of products in the international market, whereby the company has started focussing on industrial products and systems in addition to power plants and power generating equipment, which has been its forte.

BHEL is the only company in India to have established state-of-the-art technology for manufacture of centrifugal compressors, the heart of all process industries like fertilisers, refineries, petrochemicals etc. The company has so far manufactured, supplied and commissioned over 300 Centrifugal Compressors for core industries in India and abroad.
