BHEL achieves major milestone in the Middle East with the commissioning of Two Gas Turbine-based Power Plants in UAE and Oman
India’s largest Power Project exporter, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has achieved another milestone in international operations with the completion of two power projects in the the Middle-East region. Significantly, this includes BHEL’s first ever Power Project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The 2x42 MW Gas Turbine-based power project of Al Ghail Power Company is situated in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven emirates of the UAE. BHEL’s scope of work in this project included supplies of Gas Turbine Generating units with auxiliary equipment and supervision of erection and commissioning.
Located around 70 km. north of Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah is fast emerging as one of the most attractive destinations for Foreign Direct Investment in UAE. Al Ghail Power LLC is a company wholly owned by Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (RAKIA), Government of Ras Al Khaimah.
The other milestone has been achieved at Oman with the successful commissioning of a 26 MW Gas Turbine Generator at Oman Refinery and Petrochemical plant in Muscat. Another BHEL unit of similar rating is also in an advanced stage of commissioning at the same project. The first of their kind in Oman, these units will provide captive power generation for the Oil refinery.
In the Middle East, BHEL has set up 14 Power Projects, besides substations and supply of a host of equipment for the power and the oil & gas sectors. The completion of these projects will further consolidate BHEL’s position in the Middle East – one of the fastest growing markets for power generating equipment globally and a key export region for the company.
BHEL has a rich and varied experience of supplying and installing over 1,00,000 MW of Power Plant equipment and has established its footprints in all the six continents of the world, spanning over 70 countries.
BHEL’s technical competence has earned worldwide acclaim and the company is taking long strides to become a major global player by further enhancing its presence in international markets through consolidation in existing markets, widening the export base through expansion of its existing basket of products and services, and by entering new markets.
