BHEL bags EEPC's Top Export Award for the 16th consecutive year
For outstanding export performance, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has won the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC)’s Award for the sixteenth year in succession.
Conferred on BHEL in the category ‘Star Performer in 2004-05: Power Generation Equipment and Parts - Large Enterprises’, the award was presented by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Mr. Kamal Nath at a function today.
Overseas business has been identified as a major thrust area by the company. In this direction, short-term and long-term plans have been chalked out which are yielding rich dividends.
During the last fiscal, BHEL booked the highest ever physical export orders of Rs.33,480 Million - a six fold increase over the previous year. This included a string of successes in project exports with orders secured for oil and coal-based Steam Power Plants, Gas Power Plants, Hydro Plants, Substations and loose products like Compressors, Transformers, etc. In fact the year saw the booking of the largest-ever single export order for 4x125 MW Steam Turbine based thermal plant at Kosti, Sudan, from National Electricity Corporation, Sudan, on EPC basis.
The company retained its stronghold in Oman with the sixth and seventh power project orders for 3x126 MW Gas Turbine-based power plants at Mukhaizana and Qarn Alam for Petroleum Development Oman, on EPC basis. Orders were also secured for a 42 MW Hydro Power Project in Afghanistan, 220 kV Substation in Ethiopia, etc.
The trend is continuing in the current year also and BHEL has already achieved major successes with a series of orders for substation projects from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Ethiopia, Transformers from Egypt and Sudan and Solar Cells from Sweden and Italy.
BHEL is one of the largest exporters of engineering products and services from India. Over the years, BHEL has established its footprints in over 65 countries encompassing all six inhabited continents of the world.
