BHEL bags Rs.50,400 Million Contract for installing 4x600 MW Thermal Sets from Jindal Power Limited
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a prestigious contract for setting up a 2,400 MW thermal power plant (4x600 MW) in Chhatisgarh.
BHEL has already successfully executed 4x250 MW units of OP Jindal Super Thermal Power Plant at Raigarh.
To this effect, Jindal Power Limited has reposed confidence once again in BHEL’s proven technological excellence, by placing another order valued at Rs.50,400 Million on the company.
BHEL will install four units of 600 MW each in this extension stage of JPL’s 4x600 MW OP Jindal Super Thermal Power Plant at Raigarh.
The order is testimony to the confidence reposed by IPP’s in BHEL’s capabilities. It also reinforces BHEL’s leadership status in the execution of thermal power projects involving the supply of state-of-the-art equipment, suited to Indian coal and Indian conditions.
BHEL’s scope of work in the contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of Boilers, Steam Turbines, Turbo-Generators and associated auxiliaries along with state-of-the-art Controls and Instrumentation system including Generator and Station transformers.
BHEL is building Capacity and Capability to contribute fully for meeting the power forecast for the 11th Plan and beyond. For this, the company has enhanced its manufacturing capacity to 10,000 MW per annum which is being further enhanced to 15,000 MW per annum by December 2009 and to 20,000 MW by December 2011. Manpower is also being ramped up in a commensurate and timely manner. Besides, the company has taken steps like shift in operational focus from Product to Project and implementation of effective Project Management Systems.
