BHEL to supply 3 Compressor Packages to Kochi Refinery;Wins Rs.1,210 Million contract from BPCL
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a contract from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for supplying Compressor packages for its Kochi Refinery .
Reposing confidence in BHEL's capabilities , BPCL has placed an order worth Rs.1,210 Million, for supplying three Compressor packages including a High Flow and High Pressure, 'BCL 800' Compressor. Significantly, this is the first commercial order on BHEL for such type of Compressors .
BHEL's scope of work in the contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture and supply of two Recycle Gas Compressors with Steam Turbine drive and Motor drive and one Net Gas Compressor with Steam Turbine drive along with associated auxiliaries.
The equipment will be supplied by BHEL's manufacturing plants at Hyderabad and Bhopal in a tight schedule of 18 months .
Most of the Centrifugal Compressors in operation at BPCL's Kochi and Mumbai refineries have been supplied by BHEL. For BPCL, BHEL is also currently executing an EPC contract, valued at nearly Rs.2,980 Million, for setting up an energy efficient and environment friendly Frame-6 Gas Turbine-based co-generation power plant at Kochi Refinery .
BHEL has earlier supplied and installed co-generation power plants of various capacities on turnkey basis at BPCL's Kochi and Mumbai refineries. The plants have been operating successfully and meeting the power as well as steam needs of the refineries, efficiently .
BHEL is the only company in India to have established state-of-the-art technology for manufacture of centrifugal compressors , the heart of all process industries like fertilisers, refineries, petrochemicals, etc. The company has so far manufactured, supplied and commissioned over 300 Centrifugal Compressors for core industries in India and abroad.
