BHEL wins Mega Contract for installing 4 thermal sets of 250 MW each at Nabinagar

Under International Competitive Bidding ICB, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited BHEL has won orders for the supply and installation of the Main Plant Package at the upcoming 1,000 MW Nabinagar Thermal Power Project in Bihar, involving four units of 250 MW each.

Valued at around Rs.2,030 Crore, the orders have been placed on BHEL by Bhartiya Rail Bijlee Company Limited BRBCL, a joint venture company of NTPC and Indian Railways.

Significantly, with this, BHEL has won all the thermal power plant orders finalised by NTPC and its Joint Ventures, and is a testimony to the customers confidence in BHELs capabilities and proven technological excellence.

Slated for synchronisation during the 11th Plan, these units will add 24 million units every day to the grid on commissioning.

BHELs scope of work in the present contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of Steam Generators with Electrostatic Precipitators and Associated Auxiliaries and Turbine Generators and Associated Auxiliaries with state of the art Controls and Instrumentation system.

BHEL has fully established state-of-the-art technology for manufacture of thermal sets up to 500 MW rating and has the capability to manufacture sets up to 1,000 MW rating.

BHEL is building Capacity and Capability to contribute fully for meeting the power forecast for the 11th Plan and beyond. For this, the company has already enhanced its manufacturing capacity to 10,000 MW per annum and is further augmenting it to 15,000 MW per annum in the next two years.

Having demonstrated its track record in successfully establishing new technologies to serve the nations power sector, BHEL has equipped itself to produce thermal power equipment for 800 MW sets with supercritical parameters, suited to Indian conditions, using Indian as well as imported coal. In addition, the company is shoring up its capability for higher rating Hydro sets and advanced class Gas Turbines to cater to upcoming market requirements.
