BHEL wins Rs.3,380 Million ICB contract for 3 Turbo-blower Packages from SAIL; Highest-value single order ever received for Compressors
Against International Competitive Bidding (ICB), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited BHEL has bagged a contract from Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) for Turbo-blower packages for its Rourkela Steel Plant.
Reposing confidence in BHEL's capabilities, SAIL has placed an order worth Rs.3,380 Million on the company for three Turbo-blower packages. Significantly, this is the highest-value single order for Compressors received by BHEL till date.
BHEL's scope of work in the contract envisages supply of three Axial Turbo-blowers with drive Steam Turbines along with associated auxiliaries and controls, besides erection and civil works.
The equipment will be supplied by BHEL's manufacturing plants at Hyderabad and Bangalore in a tight schedule of 29 months.
BHEL is the only company in India to have established state-of-the-art technology for various types of industrial equipment, besides captive power plants for all process industries like fertilisers, refineries, petrochemicals, etc. Significantly, the company has so far manufactured, supplied and commissioned over 300 Compressors for core industries in India and abroad.
As a result of increased customer focus and renewed efforts for sustained presence in varied industrial segments, BHELs Industry Sector recorded an all time high order inflow of Rs.78,600 Million in the last fiscal (2007-08) – an increase of 20 per cent over the previous year.
