On his appointment as Director on the Board of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Mr. Anil Sachdev, 55, has assumed charge as Director (Personnel) of the Navratna Public Sector engineering and manufacturing enterprise, here today.

Prior to this, he was looking after the company’s Human Resource function as Executive Director (HR). A Mechanical Engineer from Jabalpur University and and an MBA in Production Management from the University of Bhopal, Mr. Sachdev joined BHEL as an Engineer Trainee in 1975 and has 32 years of diversified and versatile professional experience through working in major Units of BHEL.

After working in various capacities in the areas of Production in Bhopal, he took over as in-charge of the Central Foundry Forge Plant, Haridwar and subsequently became Executive Director of the Heavy Electrical Equipment Plant, Haridwar before shifting to the Corportae Office as Executive Director (HR).

During his stint at BHEL, Bhopal, Mr. Sachdev spearheaded major improvements in the areas of Traction Systems. He played a key role in the absorption of various technologies from TDK & Hitachi of Japan for DC Traction and technologies from ABB (Switzerland) and Hollec (Holland) for AC traction machines. During his tenure, manufacturing facilities were substantially expanded and modernized in three phases through introduction of large number of CNC machines, modern tools and sophisticated process plants.

In Haridwar, he was responsible for the turnaround of the Central Foundry Forge Plant in a short span of just two years.
