Mr. C.P. Singh appointed as Director (Engineering, Research & Development), BHEL.
On his appointment as Director on the Board of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Mr. C.P. Singh has assumed charge as Director (Engineering, Research & Development) of India's Navratna Public Sector engineering and manufacturing enterprise, here today.
Prior to this, Mr. Singh was heading the company’s Hyderabad Plant as Executive Director. He is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Benaras Hindu University, with a Post Graduate Diploma in International Management from International Management Institute of India, Delhi.
Mr. Singh joined BHEL in 1970 and rose to the position of Executive Director of the company’s Power Sector Northern Region (PS-NR) in 2004, handling Thermal and Hydro Construction and Power Station Renovation Projects. He was instrumental in setting new benchmarks in the setting up of prestigious thermal power projects viz. Panipat and Parichha TPS as well as gas turbine-based projects in Libya.
Under his leadership, BHEL Hyderabad recorded a quantum jump in its turnover from Rs.1,747 Crore to Rs.2,672 Crore in fiscal 2005-06. In the same period, the unit’s profits witnessed a nearly 100% surge to Rs.615 Crore, with Economic Value Addition (EVA) rising by an impressive 300%.
With more than 36 years of professional experience, Mr. Singh has an outstanding track record in the field of leading product groups, manufacturing, technology transfer, in-house technology development, project execution, general management and HR, among others.
A few of Mr. C.P. Singh’s significant achievements include successful execution of BHEL’s first turnkey export project (2x120 MW) at Tripoli, Libya; establishment of 210 MW steam turbine manufacturing technology and finalisation of extension of agreement with GE, USA, for newer models of gas turbines with specific business potential.
